Mr. Wattie’s experience and knowledge includes 25 years with Technovation, 30 years in total in construction related and mechanical engineering consulting including HVAC and plumbing design before forming Technovation).
Mr. Wattie’s experience and knowledge allows Technovation to provide expert and Independent 3 rd Party Reviews. These may be part of:
- Assisting legal teams with expert witness services and reports for litigation. We are well versed in providing expert reports for issues involving fire suppression systems and Part 3 Building Code. We have provided Building Code related expert witness reports regarding fall injuries and guards, and door injuries regarding self-closing devices.
- Existing building fire protection assessments. Our services include site reviews and commenting on the code compliance of the fire protection and life safety items. We review the applicable parts of BC Building Code and BC Fire Code and NFPA standards, and use that review along with site review comments to form a compliance report to assess the adequacy of fire protection and life safety systems. The owner can then prioritize upgrades as required and complete them within the warranty period if possible.
- Our independent reviews for existing buildings also include overall reviews of the building design, field reviews and construction process, Letters of Assurance, and timelines. We are very familiar with how the Consultants and the Coordinating Registered Professional are supposed to interact and coordinate with each other and the owners, and familiar with how the steps and timeline are supposed to proceed during construction and commissioning. We then include comments in our reports regarding any deficiencies found in the process and timeline for the project.
